On Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, starting at 11 a.m., students and their families are encouraged to participate in a special program of the Vernal School Environmental Education Partnership at the Montour Preserve titled "Stayin' Alive: A look at animal hibernation." In the program, join Mama T of Mama Ts Homestead as we explore how animals stay alive during the blustery, frigid weather of Central PA. What is their secret? Who stays and sticks it out, who seeks warmer climates? What do farm animals and wildlife have in common when it comes to adaptations and how can we help animals in our backyard stay content until spring arrives? Lots of questions, lots of answers and cute craft included. Don't miss out - register today! Presentation will include a slideshow connecting the dots between wildlife and livestock. There will also be a hands-on activity that can be completed on-site or taken home and a handout on links where participants can learn more about things they can do to help wildlife in our area.
