Congratulations to Andrew Rockhound and Lyla Robbins on winning May's Vernal School Photography contest. May's theme was "Birds in the Wild". Andrew won the adult contest with his submission of a photograph featuring a family of geese. 14-year-old Lyla Robbins won for the second month in a row with a picture of a chickadee on a feeder titled "Snack Time on the Farm". Both of these photos will be on display for the month of June at Montour Preserves Visitor Center. The topic for June will be "Life on the Water". Here's your chance to submit a picture of that big fish you caught or maybe you would just like to submit a beautiful sunset over a lake. Photographs of aquatic scenery, activities and wildlife will be accepted this month. How It Works: -At the beginning of each month, we announce the theme for that month's contest. -Photos should be locally taken. -Contests will be held for adults (16+) and youth. Both contests will be run the same and have the same prizes and rules. -Participants have the 1st-15th of each month to capture and submit their photographs related to the theme. -Submissions are accepted via Facebook by submitting the picture as a comment under the original monthly post or by emailing the photo to [email protected]. -All submissions should include title, subject, age of photographer (if youth), and location (if public). -On the 16th of the month, we will post that it's time to vote and post the photo submissions in the comment section of that post. -To vote, simply click like on the photo you would like to win. The photo with the most likes win. -Winners are announced at the beginning of the following month, and prizes are awarded to the top entries. -Winner photographs may be used for the Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper/Vernal School 2025 Nature Calendar
