Local Scout working towards Summit Rank to host a free "Build a Birdhouse Day" on May 24th.

On Saturday, May 24, 2025, Eagle Scout Cole Orner will lead a hands-on birdhouse-building workshop for children as part of his Summit service project with Venturing Crew 2307. The program begins at 9:00 a.m. at Goose Cove Pavilion 1.  The workshop is free and open to the public, but due to supply needs, registration is required.

During this free workshop children will have the opportunity to build their own birdhouses with guidance from Cole and fellow members of Crew 2307.  All supplies will be provided.

Cole who earned his Eagle Scout through Troop 419 in Selinsgrove is currently working towards Summit Rank, the highest recognition in the Venturing program. Venturing is a youth-led program of the Scouting America for young people ages 14 to 21. It focuses on leadership, service, and outdoor adventure, providing older youth with opportunities to grow personally while giving back to their communities.

With a strong interest in woodworking and a goal of becoming a technology education teacher, Cole designed this event to inspire creativity, encourage hands-on learning, and promote an appreciation for wildlife and outdoor spaces.
