Author and conservation leader Brook Lenker will lead a discussion on writing, nature and place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Montour Preserve. The event will explore his writings, love of nature and inspiration. Lenker is the author of The Restorers, a 2019 novel that draws on his deep connection to Pennsylvania’s natural environment and themes of renewal and resilience. He also contributed to After the Pandemic: Visions of Life Post COVID-19 and spent nearly a decade as a freelance writer for Susquehanna Life Magazine. His newest book, The Arbiters, is a coming-of-age story that touches on love, acceptance and the power of making a difference. In addition to his writing, Lenker has devoted his career to environmental stewardship. He currently serves as executive director of the Keystone Trails Association, where he leads statewide efforts to protect and promote Pennsylvania’s hiking trails. His career includes previous leadership roles with the FracTracker Alliance, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay. Lenker’s presentation will blend personal stories and reflections. Books will be available for sale. The program will meet in the auditorium of the Environmental Education Center and is open to the public. Please register for this program below.
