The Vernal School Environmental Education Partnership, in conjunction with the Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association and the Montour Area Recreation Commission, will be holding a series of nature-focused day camp opportunities for younger children at the Montour Preserve during the summer months.
Called Habitat Helpers, this program is for potty-trained kids ages 3 to those entering kindergarten this coming fall and focuses on learning about different habitats and the creatures that call them home. It will include a hands-on project families can take home to improve habitat in their backyards and communities. Program days will be themed for three different habitats -- woodland, aquatic, grasslands and soils. Students will learn about each of those specialized areas and the nature that calls them home.
