The Vernal School Environmental Education Partnership’s Aquatic Explorers Club will host its annual planning meeting at 4:30 p.m. January 25, in the auditorium of the Montour Preserve Environmental Education Center. Current members, as well as youth ages 10 to 13 who are interested in joining the club, are invited to attend.

As part of the Learning for Life program, the club is chartered by the Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association and operates on an annual registration and calendar. Programming includes stream studies, fishing, educational programs and other hands-on activities that emphasize teamwork, leadership and environmental responsibility.
The planning meeting will focus on reviewing the past year, setting goals for the upcoming season, and discussing program ideas, activities and field experiences centered on natural science, conservation and experiential learning. The meeting is open to families interested in learning more about the club or considering participation.

“This planning meeting is a great opportunity for families to see what the Aquatic Explorers Club is all about and help shape the year ahead,” said Marissa Crames, program supervisor for the Vernal School Environmental Education Partnership. “Our goal is to give young people meaningful, hands-on experiences that build skills while fostering a strong connection to natural science and the environment.”

“This program is about having fun while learning by doing,” said Jayme Knouse, a parent of an Aquatic Explorers Club participant and a club leader. “We want kids to explore and ask questions.”

Those interested in natural science, outdoor exploration or conservation are encouraged to attend the Jan. 25 planning meeting to learn more and get involved.  For more information, contact Vernal School Program Supervisor Marissa Crames at [email protected] or 570-850-1166. Those planning to attend are asked to complete the registration form below.
