A sponsorship is a financial commitment from a business, foundation, group or even a family or individual to cover a specific area or need within our work. It may be toward a physical project or to cover supplies for a specific program or initiative either at the preserve or in general. Check out our most recent e-report to see many of the different areas of our work and ways to potentially sponsor it.
Some of the specific areas:
Those that sponsor these and other projects will be honored in various ways depending on their wishes and the level of their giving/sponsorship. We can discuss each of those cases on an individual basis. Send us an email for any potential sponsor interest for your business, association, family, etc. Let us know what areas you are interested in getting involved with and we can get the process started from there.
Some of the specific areas:
- Parking areas across the preserve were treated with a crack-filling agent but need to be resealed and re-lined (for parking spots, etc.). Estimated cost of this project is $50,000 and we have someone ready to do it when conditions allow as soon as funding is available.
- WREN women’s program could use a sponsor to cover activities and supplies. Having a specific business or two behind our WREN program would be ideal. For more on the WREN program, click here.
- Our Read and Explore program is a weekly STEM-focused opportunity for preschoolers and their families where a nature-related book is read and then an activity (craft, hike, fishing, STEM-related science project, etc.) related to that story is completed. A consistent sponsor or two for books and supplies/equipment would be great. More on the program here.
- We have seen a massive influx of field trips from local school districts and other groups which has led to a need for updating certain equipment that gets used heavily during these trips. Sponsorships for field trips are available.
- We have a Birdnet unit that records, IDs and uploads species that it detects near the visitor center. We'd like to install additional units around the preserve as well as other tech research devices. Sponsorships for tech-related work are available.
- We have built a connection with the Berwick area school district and are working with the one elementary school to help create a community garden for hands-on learning for kindergartners there. Sponsorships towards a security fence and other necessary supplies would be very helpful.
- We have a great connect with local Scout groups and new opportunities for expanded programs but could use more equipment to satisfy needs. Scout-specific environmental education sponsorships are available.
- We also encourage donations and sponsorship directly to the maintenance aspects of the preserve, which is being done by the Montour Area Recreation Commission. We funnel those needs and resources to them. Trail upgrades, repairs to infrastructure, etc., is available.
- As mentioned above, check out our most recent e-report for more opportunities for sponsorships.
