The Aquatic Explorers Club at the Vernal School Environmental Education Partnership gives youth ages 10 to 13 a chance to experience the natural world through hands-on experiences in water science, ecology and outdoor adventure. Sponsored by the Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association, this Learning for Life program of Scouting America’s Susquehanna Council combines recreation with environmental education through stream studies, fishing, and aquatic sports that help kids build real connections to the water and the world around them.
Meeting regularly at Montour Preserve, field exploration and presentations introduce participants to careers in the natural sciences, wildlife biology, environmental science and outdoor education.
The club helps youth build confidence, leadership and teamwork. Members have taken part in events such as regattas, fossil digs, camporees and citizen science.
